Gusto 101 is one of the most popular Italian restaurant in Toronto. Located around King West, on Portland Street, and close where we stayed. It's a walk-in neighbourhood restaurant; they don't take reservation after 6:30pm. When we first arrived at 8:00 on Saturday night, we gave up on the two hours wait.
Good news! We had chance came back on Sunday night. The food quality and flavours was excellent, the plate design highlighted the dishes. and they served fresh ingredients. The service was pretty awesome. The exterior and interior design are gorgeous, even the washroom is unique. Everything was perfect, but I noticed one down side: high carb food is not friendly for people who trying to lose weight.
Grilled octopus and fried capers, seat on lemon potatoes. Chimichurri, olive tapenade, and piquillo purée are good combination of sauces.
MAFALDE AI FUNGHI
Delicious pasts, that portobello, porcini, and oyster mushrooms meet each other in this plate with rich truffle cream sauce.
Packed with fennel sausage ragu, mushroom, and parmesan cheese. Serve with homemade tomato and bechamel sauce. This is Sunday night special.
BRANZINO ALLA GRIGLIAM
Grilled mediterranean sea bass with crispy skin. Escarole, cannellini beans, and celery are under the bass.
Salmoriglio sauce is delicious.
