PREPARE CHINESE HOT POT AT HOME

 

 

HOT POT (火锅) is the most popular cooking method in China. It's a pot of simmering flavourful broth setting on the centre of the dining table, at the time fresh ingredients surrounding the pot. People cook and eat while they socialize with their family and friends, and some people prefer to have their hot pot alone.

SPICY BROTH

120 g spicy soup base

15 g dried chilli

750 ml water, boiled

 

 

MUSHROOM BROTH

120 g mushrooms base

2 spring onions, diced

5 dried dates

10 g dried goji berries

3 dried shiitake

750 ml water, boiled

 

 

MAIN INGREDIENTS:

Typical ingredients for hot pot are raw meats, seafood, and vegetables. 

 

 

DIPPING SAUCE - SESAME OIL

1/4 cup sesame oil

1 tbsp garlic, minced

1 tsp msg or salt

 

 

DIPPING SAUCE - SESAME PASTE

1 tbsp sesame paste

1 tbsp fermented bean curd

1 tbsp chives sauce

 

 

INSTRUCTIONS

Start with prepare main ingredients; place in plates.

Boil 2l water.

Place the hot pot burner on the middle of the dining table.

Combine the broth ingredients.

Bring the main ingredients to the table.

Mix the dipping sauce ingredients.

Ready to cook on the table and enjoy your hotpot.
